Blenheim Palace:

Online for success with VENPoS Online

Blenheim Palace, one of the UK’s most popular and most visited historic houses, has implemented VENPoS Online, a powerful e-commerce platform from Visitor Attraction software specialist Vennersys.

Through VENPoS Online, Blenheim Palace will sell a wide range of tickets, memberships, merchandise and experiences, from delicious, traditional cream teas to fishing memberships for the acclaimed Trout Fishery in Bladon Lake, set in the beautiful rolling landscape created by “Capability” Brown.

Blenheim Palace already use VENPoS to manage their physical admissions and retail operations and one of the key factors in their decision to deploy VENPoS Online was its close integration with the rest of the application, especially the CRM and Bookings modules. This high level of integration provides a number of operational benefits for Blenheim Palace, for example:

  • Customer information from web transactions can be captured in VENPoS CRM, for future marketing activities
  • Print at Home tickets which include unique barcodes can be scanned to facilitate rapid entry
  • Integration with the VENPoS Booking module means that customers can book for capacity limited events and activities online
  • Having a single system managing physical and web sales means that cross channel promotions are easier to set up and measure
  • During purchases of merchandise via VENPoS Online, the system talks to VENPoS Stock to validate product availability, thus ensuring customer satisfaction through high rates of fulfilment and eliminating post sale “out of stock” emails.

Whilst Blenheim Palace was able to carry out many of the same online activities prior to implementing VENPoS Online, a lot of extra effort was required by Blenheim staff to manage multiple systems and do all of the necessary reconciliation and administration. Dominic Hare, Finance Director at Blenheim Palace, said that “having an online system which is fully integrated with our physical admissions and EPoS system, is really important to us because it gives us reliable, consolidated reporting and allows us to drive targeted promotions across all of our sales channels.”

Vennersys is developing a range of product enhancements for 2010 designed to increase functionality in the key areas of CRM and e-commerce, one of which will be the launch VENPoS BoxOffice, which will work in conjunction with VENPoS Online to allow customers to view seating plans and choose their seats at the point of online purchase.

Dominic Hare continued, “Vennersys have shown themselves to be very easy to work with and their willingness to listen and understand our needs gives us confidence that VENPoS has been and continues to be the right choice for Blenheim Palace.”
