The original company, Venners Computer Systems Ltd. (VCS), was formed in 1994 to focus on delivering an integrated PoS, ticketing and catering solution to customers in the Leisure and Hospitality sectors.

The first solution was a DOS based product called VPoS. VPoS was very successful and, almost as a testament to its longevity, is still in use with some customers today.

As computer systems became ever more powerful, a new solution was needed to fully exploit this potential and VENPoS was born. VENPoS has continued to evolve over the years to meet the changing needs of our customers, particularly with regard to online ticketing functionality.

In 2000, VCS’ parent company, Christie Group, acquired a French retail software company called Timeless SA and, because of the obvious synergies, merged the two software companies to become Vennersys. The leisure and hospitality sectors continued to be served by the VENPoS product.

One of the key relationships which has contributed to the company’s growth is the distributor agreement with New Zealand based Vista Entertainment Solutions Ltd. Vista specialise in software solutions for the Cinema industry and are, today, the leading author of software for the sector. Working in partnership with Vista, we now supply some of the industries leading cinema circuits, including VUE in the UK and Empire in Canada, which is served by our Canadian office.

In September 2008, Christie Group sold the “High Street” retail interests of Vennersys. This has enabled the company to return to its natural roots, serving the Leisure and Hospitality sectors. As a consequence of the sale and to re-affirm its identity in the sector, the company has renamed itself Venners Systems and Services Ltd., trading as Vennersys.
